Tornado Disaster Assistance

Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) have been established throughout the state to assist seniors and their families that are in need as a result of the devastating tornadoes that passed through Alabama. Area Agency on Aging employees will be available to provide assistance in obtaining help.

The Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) operating in Alabama are open 7 days-a-week from 7am to 7pm to assist Alabamians. Seniors and other populations are being informed to register with FEMA by calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362), TTY (800) 462-7585 or online at www.fema.gov to facilitate the process. When disaster-affected residents visit a center, they should have identification, social security numbers, insurance information, proof of address and contact numbers to expedite the application process.
